- Question: How can I make my blog private? Answer: Yes. Login to Blogger. At the Dashboard, click the link for Settings, and then the Permissions link. You can limit who can read your blog from this area. (You can also add other authors on this page.)
- Question: How do I add website links to my Blogger blog sidebar? Answer: If you are using Blogger Beta, you will need to add a page element to the layout of your blog. Login to Blogger. On the Dashboard, click on the link to manage the Layout. A representation of your page will be presented. Choose the area of the page where you want your links, and click on the Add Page Element link in that section. It will ask you to name your links area, and then give you text boxes for the URL and site name. Continue to click on the “Add Link” button until you are finished.
- If you’re not using Blogger Beta, you will need to change the HTML. Login to Blogger. At the Dashboard, click the link for managing the template. (It’s next to Settings.) A screen with an HTML window of your template will be available. The easiest way to find the area you need to change is by doing Ctrl+F on your keyboard, and searching for “Links” or “Edit Me.” The HTML for adding a link is:
- <a href=”http://INSERT URL“>INSERT SITE NAME</a>
- Remove INSERT URL and type in the URL for the site. Remove INSERT SITE NAME and type in the name. Leave all other punctuation.
- Question: I’m using WordPress.com. How do I add an image to a post? Answer: Adding Images to WordPress.com posts (PDF)
- Question: I’d like to try something other than Blogger. What else is out there? Answer: There are lots of options out there for blogging. There is a good entry on Wikipedia that lists many more. Find it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weblog_software. Some popular choices:
