Welcome to LibraryTrax!! This blog is maintained by members of the South Carolina State Library’s Library Development Services, and guest bloggers from other departments and, perhaps, other libraries. We’ll be sharing information for and about libraries in South Carolina. We’ll share great library programs, highlight what we learn from leaders in the field, and hopefully inspire conversations about the future of libraries. We’ll also be sharing resources, like workshop handouts, presentation slides, etc.
Check back often! Comments are turned on, so please share your thoughts with us. We truly want this to be a conversation!

Hi,
After looking at the links on your blog, I’m a bit concerned that we are a bit too “pedestrian” for you, since the Maintain IT Project does not focus on any cool new digital library technology but I’d still like to introduce you to our new project, because it is all about giving patrons the opportunity to use new technology by providing public access computers.
Here’s the skinny on the project:
The new Maintain IT Project (www.maintainitproject.org), funded by the Gates Foundation focuses of the topic on how to best keep these computers for patrons running.
We just launched the “Share your story” campaign (see http://www.maintainitproject.org/spread-the-word ) to collect stories on challenges around keeping these computers running as well as successes and lessons learned. The information collected will be distilled into a series of how-to guides tailored to the specific technical support needs of different types of public libraries.
We’d love your help in getting the word out to Librarians, IT staff, and technology consultants! The more stories we collect, the better our guides will address the actual challenges libraries are facing.
Stories can be submitted online at http://www.maintainitproject.org or by contacting the project at maintainit@techsoup.org, or 415-633-9390 and 800-659-3579 x 390.
Thanks in advance for your help! If you have questions, please contact us at 800-659-3579 x 390.
Thanks,
Franziska
